Meet Kenzie Williams, LVT: A New Chapter at Cascade

A personal reason to pursue veterinary medicine

Losing a pet as a child stayed with Kenzie. As she learned more about animal care, she began to recognize things she wished she had known then. She wanted to turn that experience into knowledge she could use to help other families.

That connection between animals and their people is central to what drew her to the profession. She wanted to understand how to care for pets and help their owners do the same.

Building a foundation in animal care

Kenzie began working at Animal Health Center in 2017 as a veterinary assistant and kennel attendant. Over the next six years, she gained hands-on experience in a veterinary hospital while pursuing her education.

In June 2023, she graduated from Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Oregon, with a veterinary assistant certificate and associate degrees in science and arts. She continued her studies at Pierce College in Lakewood, Washington, earning her associate degree in veterinary technology in June 2025.

During her time at Pierce, Kenzie completed externships at Mountain View Veterinary Hospital, Animal Surgical & Orthopedic Center, and Olympia Equine Veterinary Service. Those placements gave her opportunities to learn in different settings, including surgical, orthopedic, and equine care.

Putting her training into practice

After graduation, Kenzie worked as a Licensed Veterinary Technician at Animal Hospital of Pasco before joining Cascade.

Her experience includes caring for small and large animals, monitoring patients during anesthesia and recovery, performing dental cleanings, and collecting diagnostic information through bloodwork, urinalysis, and X-rays. She has also worked with bandaging and wound care.

Alongside those clinical skills, Kenzie has experience communicating with clients and explaining discharge instructions. Helping an owner understand the next steps in their pet’s care connects directly to the reason she chose veterinary medicine in the first place.

A new team and room to grow

Kenzie comes to Cascade excited to use the skills she has developed and to keep learning. She welcomes the challenge of a new workplace and looks forward to getting to know the coworkers and clients who will become part of her days here.

For her, joining Cascade is an opportunity to build those relationships while continuing to explore how much there is to learn in veterinary medicine.

Life beyond the clinic: college volleyball

Before joining Cascade, Kenzie was also making her mark on the volleyball court. She played setter for the Blue Mountain Community College Timberwolves and served as a team captain. A 2021 East Oregonian profile highlighted the enthusiasm she brought to the team and her commitment to showing up with a positive attitude at practice.

That competitive side is still part of her life outside the clinic. Kenzie continues to enjoy games and sports, and she is always happy for a chance to put her competitive streak to use.
